Winner of World Food Innovation Award

Already 3 hours after the last article appeared on the homepage, we learned

 that we received the price for -Best free-from Product-. However  we had to keep the news secret, until the award ceremony took place on 7 March in London.

The winners of the 2018 World Food Innovation Awards were announced at a special award ceremony at Hotelympia  in London on March 7th.

Elisabeth Klippel and Oliver Schenkmann from the AOT Team were awarded the prize in London.

The award ceremony was held as part of the Foodservice Show which takes place every two years.

The annual awards, organised by FoodBev Media and held in association with Hotelympia, celebrate all outstanding innovations in the global food industry.

FoodBev Media group editor Alex Clere said: “We are happy to celebrate the fourth year of the annual World Food Innovation Awards this year at Hotelympia. Once again we are fascinated by the level of innovation shown by the entrants. We see new flavours, new concepts, smart packaging designs, state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies and new paths towards a more responsible and sustainable food industry.

World Food Innovation Award

AOT has applied for product innovation, the Heliaflor® Crisps Schnetzel, at the World Food Innovation Award hosted by FoodBev Media, and is one of the finalists in the categories "Best organic product" and "Best 'free-from' product ". The final winners of each category will be announced in London on 7th March. The nomination for the final shows that plant based meat alternatives without soy or wheat are becoming more and more in the focus. Sunflower protein with all its advantages offers the ideal basis.

RESEARCH AWARD - ORGANIC FOOD ECONOMY

We congratulate Mrs Svenja Herzog for winning the research award of best bachelor thesis. In cooperation with All Organic Trading Mrs Herzog wrote her bachelor thesis at the university Albstadt-Sigmaringen on the topic

“Production of Sunflower Proteins from Sunflower Presscake and subsequent processing into Sunflower Tofu”

Mrs Herzog’s research achieved outstanding results showing the high potential of sunflower protein for the food industry. As a non-allergenic product and protein source alternative to soya Sunflower Protein contributes significantly to a healthy vegetable diet and provides a raw material for a wide range of applications.

BIOFACH 2017 – Innovative Proteins

At Biofach 2016 we presented our latest findings from various research projects at our lecture “Innovative Proteins”. The main focus was on our high quality sunflower protein Heliaflor®.
After a short introduction into the topic of proteins and characterization of our Heliaflor® including its special production process we addressed first of all the following issues:

  • Where and how is Heliaflor® applicable in the food sector?
  • What are the benefits of Heliaflor® in terms of technology and nutritional physiology?

We were able to present a wide application range based on our research work with universities.
Extensive analysis tests over several months have revealed further outstanding qualities of our Heliaflor®.
Meanwhile Innovative Proteins make a wide product range in our company. We were able to introduce in our presentation some novelties like our valuable Pumpkin Protein and Cranberry Protein besides plant proteins already known.

Initiative organic seeds sunflower

Even though sunflower oil is very popular in the organic business there are only hybrid species in agriculture. These stem from two large seed corporations and are partly patent pending. That’s why 10 organic companies have combined to support the seed growing business Peter Kunz in cultivating organic types of high oleic sunflowers.
